Dirty Rice

This recipe is from Linda Miller of Benld, Illinois, who writes, "This is a recipe that has been in my family for a number of years. It is quick and easy and very good. I was always following my twin daughters to their high school basketball games and time was a factor. Now they are out and on their own and this is one of the recipes they took with them."

1 medium onion, chopped
1 1/2 cups cooked rice (not instant)
3 cans (#303 - 14 oz. each) stewed tomatoes
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon each salt and pepper

Directions:

Brown the ground beef with the chopped onion until done. Drain well.

Combine remaining ingredients in a stew pot. Add the ground beef mixture. Mix well and simmer for 30 minutes. Makes 4 servings.
