Blonde Brownies

A different kind of brownie - kind of like a nice soft chocolate chip cookie in a bar. Yummy!

Brownies:
1/3 cup butter
1 1/2 cups brown sugar
2 eggs, beaten
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup chopped walnuts
1/2 cup chocolate chips

Browned Butter Icing:
1 1/2 tablespoons butter
1 1/2 cups icing (confectioners) sugar
3/4 teaspoon vanilla
light cream

Blonde Brownies
Directions:

Brownies:
Melt butter, stir in sugar, eggs and vanilla.

In a small bowl mix flour, baking powder and salt. Add to the butter mixture and blend well. Stir in nuts and chocolate chips.

Pour into a greased 9 inch square pan. Bake at 350 degrees F. for about 30 minutes, until the top springs back when touched lightly. Cool.

Browned Butter Icing:
Put butter in a small saucepan and heat until golden brown. Remove from heat and add icing sugar, vanilla, and enough cream to make a mixture that is easy to spread.

Spread on cooled cake. Cut into squares.
