Grandma's Sunday Best Dinner

When I was a child we went to Grandma and Grandpa's house every Sunday for dinner. Grandma had two menus which she alternated - roast chicken and roast beef.

Oven Pot Roast is a fancier version of the plain roast beef my Grandma used to make. The meat is roasted in a tomato, wine, broth sauce, along with potatoes, carrots and onions. Grandma would serve some boiled peas with the meal.

Grandma always made a lettuce salad with a creamy dressing - usually with some apples added. Waldorf Salad is a fancier version (minus the lettuce!).

The dessert I most remember was chocolate cake, served with ice cream (I liked to mix the cake and ice cream all up together - but that's another story!)
