Sunday Standby Dinner

This slow cooked round steak recipe makes a great Sunday Standby dinner. It is quick to prepare - just brown the steak, add the sauce ingredients and leave it to simmer for 3 hours until the steak is nice and tender. Add onions and celery during the last half hour.

Serve with garlic mashed potatoes and you can spoon some of the steak sauce over the potatoes. Add some green beans, fresh ones if they are available.

Pat's Boiled Raisin Cake makes a great Sunday dessert. If you're lucky there might even be some left over for Monday! Make the cake early in the day. You start by boiling the raisins. The boiled raisin juice is added to the cake which makes it very tasty. The caramel icing is delicious too.
