Base:
Rub
flour, brown sugar and butter together. Press into a
9 inch square pan. Bake at 350 degrees F. for 5 minutes.
Topping:
Combine sugar and maple syrup in a saucepan, simmer
5 minutes. Remove from heat and cool slightly. Pour
over beaten eggs,
stirring well. Stir in butter, salt, vanilla and flour.
Spread
walnut halves evenly over base. Pour maple syrup mixture
over walnuts. Bake at 450 degrees F. for 10 minutes.
Reduce heat to 350 degrees F. and bake for 20 minutes.
Cool and cut into squares.
